A message from treasurer and board member of CMA, Devon Day:

“I’m concerned about Chamber Music Albuquerque.”

This is a very common phrase I hear when I chat with donors. We all worry about aging audiences, trouble attracting new patrons, the unprecedented number of choices available to music lovers, and a lagging New Mexican economy.  These are not problems unique to CMA, but major classical music organizations nationwide.  However, as your Treasurer, I am NOT concerned about Chamber Music Albuquerque.  Allow me to tell you why:

  • CMA is the only organization in the heart of our state dedicated to presenting the most dynamic and elite ensembles from all over the world.  Some are tried and true and some are fresh faces and appeal to a diverse audience, but all are absolutely top quality, and you know that you can trust us to find these groups and bring them to Albuquerque.

  • Our board may be small, but we are hugely dedicated to keeping CMA strong.  Our President, Jonathan Gerson has a knowledge and passion for classical chamber music that is inspiring and amazing.  Our staff member, Amanda Talley, is dedicated to serving our patrons and donors well and we are so fortunate to have her.  We are committed to smart fiscal management so that every dollar possible can be spent on excellent musicians and programming.  CMA would love to have new board members, so please let us know of any interest.

  • Finally, our loyal and enthusiastic donors.  Thank you for your gifts today.  In addition to our Annual Fund, we also have a strong legacy gift program, the Stradivarius Society.  One of the members, Ruth Ronan, was on the board for 25 years starting in 1978, and contributes to CMA in important ways today.  With her legacy gift, CMA will survive long into the future.  I invite you to consider joining her and the other special donors in this Society.  I am happy to discuss the surprisingly uncomplicated ways you can contribute anytime.

So far this season, CMA has presented performances by Anne Akiko Meyers and Time for Three.   Please join us for our upcoming concerts featuring the Cypress String Quartet, Zuill Bailey and Navah Perlman, and the Afiara and Daedalus String Quartets.  And thank you in advance for your donations today and as your legacy gifts.  While we are prudently concerned, there are so many reasons to be confidant and optimistic about Chamber Music Albuquerque.

Truly,

Devon Day, Treasurer
